Where to start? Well the whistle blew and the Hanoi Leagues "dirty dozen" did their best to defeat the Minsk team which looked far from frightening. . . . . there was simply no way that this could go wrong, especially when it turned out to be a physical game.
Defence was looking solid, with only one real chance for Minsk team in first half. The real battle was on the midfield where we did well in defense, but somehow didn't get the offensive game in gear. Diggers lost his initial momentum after a being yellow carded (wrongly of course), but at the halfway mark the lads left the pitch confident that we would prevail in the second. We had a few good chances, but yours truthfully was simply to far away (stuck in defense) to see what happened. Second half was only a few minutes old when Minsk earned a free kick just outside the penalty box, Oanh saved miraculously, only to see five Minsk'ers waiting in line to give the ball the final touch . . . . oh agony! While winning yet another header Claus butted his head with a Minsk defender who apparently broke his nose. Shortly after both Dennis and Mike got yellow carded, and in the dying minutes captain Dennis underlined the Capitals bottom-position on the fair play list by recieving a direct red card for imitating a Lama. This certainly leaves room for improvement!
What else? A few crossbar shots on each goal and the usual bitching about the referee from both sides. All in all an under level performance match which is most likely to pass as a fart in the river of oblivion (is that proper English?).
Nothing good? oh yes, our new youngster Anders looked fit, fought well and passed the ball around. Secondly, we celebrated the whole thing at Dennis' 40th birthday party all night . . . 5 new female interns at the Danish Embassy, and the talented mr. Holbak showed that he is not only an exellent footballer . . . . . he can also tell lomg stories about his talents as a football manager
Nick played what he has promised to be his last match for the capitals before leaving for Bangalore . . . . . I have the feeling that his aura will be around for quite some time.
